​Elev8 Dance Academy was created and opened in April 2011 by the partners at Studio 8 and Kat Anderson, the dance teacher and principal of the Academy.

Our mission is to provide a fun learning environment where students can learn and develop in their chosen style of dance from scratch, whilst experiencing a well-rounded, safe and healthy dance class. Students can join a class at any time of year just by ringing the studio.

We do have a class size limit of 16 students per class to ensure students get the attention they need. We offer a pay termly option for all classes to ensure commitment to the Dance Academy. Our current timetable is below; new classes will be added to the timetable gradually.


A little on Kat Anderson​;
Kat was born and raised in Lincolnshire where she studied Ballet, Tap Modern and Lyrical dance from the age of 5. She studied contemporary dance at GCSE level and at A level, where she fell in love with the style. This led her to move to London in 2004 where she attended Middlesex University gaining her Undergraduate degree in Dance Performance.

She then moved to New York City, USA were she studied intensively on the international training program at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and also attended regular classes at the Merce Cunningham Studios. It was while taking a ‘whacking and vogueing’ class in NYC where Kat discovered her love for hip-hop and street dance.

On her return to the UK in 2008 Kat began working within the fitness industry, specialising in Women’s fitness and nutrition and also gaining her CYMCA level 2 Certificate in Exercise to Music and the Zumba instructor qualification. Since then Kat has worked as a University Lecturer in Dance at the University of Lincoln and as a Dance Development Worker with artsNK.

She is now a Freelance Dance Artist who works with many dance studios in the county, various dance companies from the Midlands, local youth dance groups, and teaches many different age groups and genres throughout the week, including Elev8 Dance Academy at Studio 8 Lincoln. Kat is also currently completing her Master’s Degree (MA) in Choreography through the University of Lincoln.
 

 

Our Teaching Assistants​;
Elev8 Dance Academy currently has two teaching assistants, Ellie and Louise. These girls both have a keen interest in dance; they have represented their schools in various competitions and festivals, and have enjoyed courses in dance leadership.

 

They help the Dance Academy to run smoothly, inside and outside the studio by taking on duties such as assisting with warm ups, demonstrating movements, comforting our youngest and newest dancers, as well as leaflet dropping to promote the classes, and looking after the Facebook and twitter pages.
